WSU women place 11th in Arizona

Freshman Kristen Rue shot a 2-over-par 74 for Washington State’s lowest round score in the final round of the Wildcat Invitational in Oro Valley, Ariz., on Tuesday.

The Cougars finished 11th in the 14-team field, shooting a team score of 35-over 948. Host Arizona won with an 851.

Rue finished at 13-over 229, good for a tie for 26th place, to lead WSU.

Track and field

Three Vandals were honored as Western Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week.

Distance runner Barry Britt, pole vaulter Jeremy Klas and sprinter/hurdler Liga Velvere were honored by the conference.
