Gift of levy passage would keep giving

Do home values matter to you?

We have all watched our home values fall over the past several years. I would hate to think what would happen if my home was in a school district that failed to pass its maintenance and operations levy. If you ever read a real estate multiple listings fact sheet on a home, you might have noticed the information contained in this listing. They do not tell you where the closest police or fire station is, or the location of your nearest library, gas station or grocery store. They do tell you which public schools are in your local area.

Could you imagine the value of a home close to a public school with no sports programs, ASB-sponsored clubs, co-curricular music programs, counseling services, etc.?

Public education, with a full range of opportunities for kids, is a gift the Spokane County taxpayers have given our kids for many years. To live in a community that withholds this “gift” would result in a re-gifting to the taxpayers of even lower home values.

Support your schools and support our kids in the upcoming East Valley School District maintenance and operations levy Feb. 14.
