Colorado defeats Arizona in Pac-12 basketball

Kevin Parrom missed a 3-pointer from the right wing at the buzzer and Colorado escaped with a 64-63 win over Arizona on Saturday at Boulder, Colo.

Arizona had a shot at pulling off the win after the Buffaloes’ Carlon Brown missed a 3-pointer at the 30-second mark and the Wildcats corralled the rebound.

Arizona coach Sean Miller had used its last timeout at 2:51, however, and the Buffaloes chose not to foul.

The Wildcats worked the ball around for a good look but the ball didn’t come close.

Brown’s 19 points led the Buffaloes, who trailed 39-35 at the half and didn’t get much production from Andre Roberson, who came in averaging a double-double but was held scoreless and pulled down just seven rebounds in 25 minutes.

Jesse Perry had 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats in their first trip to Boulder since Dec. 9, 1973.

Oregon 75, UCLA 68: E.J. Singler scored a career-high 26 points and the Ducks rallied from a 13-point halftime deficit to defeat the Bruins at Eugene, Ore.

Garrett Sim added 16 points for the Ducks, including a pair of 3-pointers early in the second half to spark the comeback. Devoe Joseph had 10 for Oregon, which has won four straight conference games for the first time since winning six straight in 2007.

Singler scored 20 points in the second half and was 16 of 17 from the free-throw line overall, including 10 for 10 in the final 3:30. All told, the Ducks made 28 of 32 free throws; UCLA made just 10 of 21.

Travis Wear led the Bruins with 17 points, Lazeric Jones added 14, and Jerime Anderson and David Wear had 10 apiece. The Ducks shot just 23 percent from the floor in the first half and trailed 37-24 at the break. But Oregon opened the second half on a 15-2 run and tied the game at 39 on a put-back dunk by Tony Woods with 15:28 to play. Oregon State 78, USC 59: Jared Cunningham had 18 points and five assists to lead the Beavers past the Trojans at Corvallis, Ore.

Devon Collier added 12 points and Joe Burton 11 for the Beavers, who got a pregame talk from Oregon State alumnus Gary Payton, an NBA standout from 1990-2007.

Byron Wesley had 15 points and seven rebounds and Maurice Jones 13 points for the Trojans, who gave up a season high in points.

Cunningham’s three-point play with 16:20 remaining gave Oregon State a 47-26 lead. Jones scored four points in a 7-0 run USC that cut the Beavers’ lead to 14.

Oregon State answered with four straight points, including a thunderous dunk by Cunningham off a steal.

Utah 64, Arizona State 43: Cedric Martin scored 17 points and Chris Hines added 14 as the two combined to hit nine 3-pointers to lead the Utes over the Sun Devils at Salt Lake City.

Kareem Storey scored 12 points while Jason Washburn chipped in 10 points and six rebounds for Utah. The Utes triumphed after the dismissal of former starting point guard Josh Watkins earlier in the week. Utah shot 53 percent from both the field and the 3-point line.

Arizona State scored its fewest points this season after shooting just 32 percent from the field in the second half.

Carrick Felix led the Sun Devils with 13 points while Kyle Cain and Jordan Bachynski added 10 points apiece.
