Freeman wins, now alone in first place

Kellen Miller had 21 points and seven assists as Freeman took over sole possession of first place in the Northeast A League with a 53-35 win Friday night at Colville.

Cody Unfred added 17 points – including hitting five 3-pointers – for the Scotties. Freeman (12-7, 7-2) outscored the Indians by 10 points in the third quarter to pull away.

Matt Hubbard had a team-high 17 points for Colville (12-8, 6-3), which moved into a tie for second place with Chewelah.

Chewelah 63, Riverside 35: Andrew Pugh recorded a double-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 10 blocks as the Cougars (14-5, 6-3) routed the visiting Rams (4-15, 0-9). Ben Johnstone added 15 points for Chewelah. Jordan Wood and Tyler Axtell led Riverside with nine points each.

Lakeside 49, Newport 47: Cody Watkins and Demetrius Watson scored 12 points apiece as the Eagles (9-10, 4-5) clipped the host Grizzlies (10-9, 4-5). Newport missed on a drive on the final possession and couldn’t connect on two put-back attempts. Jake Wiley had 20 points and 13 rebounds for the Grizzlies.

IEL 4A

Sandpoint 29, Lakeland 27: Ryan Schwartz made a layin with 3.8 seconds to play as the Bulldogs (6-10, 1-2) edged the visiting Hawks (3-14, 1-3). Jackson Olin had eight points for Sandpoint. Lakeland was led by Eric Cooper’s seven points.

Great Northern

Pullman 53, Cheney 41: Austin Drake hit 7 of 11 3-pointers and finished with 25 points as the Greyhounds (14-2, 7-1) beat the visiting Blackhawks (7-8, 2-5) and moved into a tie with West Valley atop the league standings.

Corey Langerveld chipped in 16 points and 11 rebounds for Pullman. Eric Igbinoba led Cheney with 10 points.

Deer Park 65, East Valley 62: Blake Starbuck had 20 points and 15 rebounds and Uconn Peone added 18 points and eight assists as the Stags (8-9, 4-5) slid past the visiting Knights (7-9, 1-7).

Zach Mohr chipped in 20 points for Deer Park. The Stags ended the first half on a 9-0 run and took control in the second half. J.T. Phelan and James Brown scored 16 points apiece for East Valley.

Bi-County 2B

Reardan 56, Colfax 40: Roy Walser had 17 points and 11 rebounds as the Indians (8-8, 7-5) pulled away in the second half and beat the visiting Bulldogs (11-4, 9-2). Trevor Peone added 16 points for Reardan, which outscored Colfax 35-16 in the second half. The Bulldogs were led by Brandon Gfeller’s 15 points.

Davenport 61, Springdale 15: Ryan Zeller had 16 points and four steals as the Gorillas (11-4, 8-4) locked down defensively and routed the visiting Chargers (4-12, 2-10). Cole Evers added 10 points for Davenport, which allowed no more than five points in any quarter.

Liberty 49, Kettle Falls 37: Dylan Salsbury and Zack Kunkel had 16 points apiece to power the Lancers (6-10, 4-9) past the host Bulldogs (2-14, 0-12). Nathan Disque had a team-high 10 points for Kettle Falls, which made 11 of its 25 free-throw attempts.

Bi-County 1B

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 61, Odessa-Harrington 44: Derek Isaak scored 30 points and Thunder Wellhausen added 23 points and 10 rebounds as the Warriors (13-3, 5-0) beat the visiting Titans (10-8, 2-4).

Almira/Coulee-Hartline gained control in the second quarter by outscoring Odessa-Harrington 13-2. Stetson Sanford and Justin Hunt led the Titans with a combined 37 points.

Valley Christian 70, St. Michael’s 44: Kolby Blew and Craver Small scored 15 points apiece as the Panthers (15-1, 6-0) routed the host Warriors (7-9, 1-4). Chris Shelley led St. Michael’s with a game-high 21 points.

North Star

Wallace 56, Clark Fork 26: The Miners (7-7, 5-2) held the visiting Wampus Cats (1-8, 1-3) to just two second-quarter points and cruised to the win. Casey McKinnon had 13 points and eight rebounds and Brock Arthun added 11 points for the victorious Miners.

Lakeside 71, Mullan 28: Kris Sneve scored 24 points and Damon Flemming-Soto added 14 points and five steals as the Knights (9-4, 4-0) whipped the Tigers (0-8, 0-5) in Plummer. Tyler Henderson tallied a team-high 16 points for Mullan.

Panorama

Columbia 50, Republic 49 (OT): Flett Paul hit a 3-pointer as time expired to give the Lions (5-14, 4-8) a win over the host Tigers (3-15, 1-4) in an extra period. Paul also tied the game with a 3 at the end of regulation.

Dustin Wyborney had 20 points and Paul had 11 for Columbia. Republic was led by Adam Leonard’s 15 points.

Northport 56, Cusick 53: Frederik Verhaeghe had 21 points, eight rebounds and six assists as the Mustangs (16-2, 11-1) edged the visiting Panthers (7-10, 6-5).

Derrick Bluff had 19 points and Ryan Sample and Alec Bluff added 10 apiece for Cusick.

Wellpinit 77, Selkirk 47: Greg Wynecoop led four players in double figures with 18 points as the Redskins (13-5, 11-0) routed the host Rangers (8-11, 7-5).

Selkirk was led by Avery Miller’s 20 points and 13 rebounds.

Curlew 59, Inchelium 42: Jazz Brisbane scored 16 points and Doug Hermann added nine points and 13 rebounds as the Cougars (3-14, 1-9) beat the visiting Hornets (0-15, 0-9). Thomas Cohen tallied a game-high 17 points for Inchelium.

Southeast 1B

Garfield-Palouse 51, Pomeroy 48: Jesse Lopez led three players in double figures with 12 points as the Vikings (5-9, 5-5) erased a 13-point halftime deficit and beat the host Pirates (6-9, 4-6). Riley Bott led Pomeroy with 16 points.

St. John-Endicott 81, Rosalia 57: Joey Kucklick made 14 of 17 shots and finished with 30 points, five rebounds and four assists as the Eagles (10-5, 9-1) routed the visiting Spartans (9-7, 6-4). Craig Nelson and Micah Pittsley combined for 30 points for Rosalia.

Nonleague

Lewiston 66, Clarkston 58: James Baerlocher led three players in double figures with 17 points as the Bengals (7-9) came alive in the fourth quarter and beat the host Bantams (9-6). Clarkston was led by Drew Adams’ 17 points.

Post Falls JV 81, Kootenai 52: Matt Hillman, Dalton Thompson and Tim Mueller combined for 44 points as the young Trojans whipped the visiting Warriors (4-9). Jake Pfeiffer led Kootenai with a game-high 26 points.

Moses Lake Christian 54, Wilbur-Creston 32: Joe Timoseyev scored 21 points to lead Moses Lake Christian past the host Wildcats (5-11). Hayden Herdrick led Wilbur-Creston with 13 points.
