Spotlight on wrong kids

I am a big fan of the paper, but I am puzzled and disappointed over the decision to devote space to the immature attention-seeker who dropped a curse word at a recent school assembly. What’s next, a story about a kid who writes dirty words on bathroom walls?

There are high school seniors all over town who are making presentations on their culminating projects that represent a special effort by them, and some of which are really exceptional. There are students in every school who have worked hard all year developing extraordinary skills in music, theater, writing, sports, and the visual arts. I would like to know more about those kids. There will always be plenty of idiots around; I don’t need to read the paper to find out about them.
