Religion Notebook: Christian bands will play at Spokane Arena

The Rock and Worship Roadshow is coming to the Spokane Arena, 720 W. Mallon Ave., at 6 p.m. Sunday.

The concert will feature the bands, MercyMe, Tenth Avenue North, LeCrae, Hawk Nelson, Disciple, Sidewalk Prophets and Rend Collective Experiment.

Bart Millard, front man of MercyMe, will be the special guest speaker.

Tickets are $10 and are available at the door only.

Lenten events

• Central Baptist Church , 19 W. Shannon Ave., will host a Lenten soup supper Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Individuals can share their own personal journeys of faith.

• Moran United Methodist Church , 3601 E. 65th Ave., will present Lenten homemade soup suppers every Wednesday during Lent from 6:15 to 8 p.m.

The Rev. Barbara Caviezel will present from the book and DVD, “Final Words from the Cross,” by Adam Hamilton, which is based on Jesus’ seven last statements and what they mean for lives today.

The church will offer contemporary worship services every Sunday in March at 11:30 a.m. and will further discuss these messages.

Retreat center

• Bishop Blase Cupich of the Catholic Diocese of Spokane will present First Fridays with the Bishop on Friday at Immaculate Heart Retreat Center, 6910 S. Ben Burr Road.

The event will begin with Mass at 11:15 a.m., followed by lunch and a 30-minute informal talk and question-and answer session until 1 p.m.

The cost to attend is $15 to cover lunch.

Reservations are required.

• The retreat center also will offer a weekend retreat Friday through Sunday.

“What Happens at Mass,” will be presented by the Sisters of Mary, Mothers of the Church based on the Rev. Jeremy Driscoll’s book of the same name.

The cost to attend is $185 for singles, $280 for couples or $100 for commuters.
