Gonzales pitches Gonzaga over Gaels

Marco Gonzales gave up two runs and struck out seven in 7 2/3 innings as Gonzaga beat the Saint Mary’s Gaels in the middle game of a three-game West Coast Conference series Saturday afternoon in Moraga, Calif.

Gonzales, who also had three hits, improved to 6-1. David Bigelow got the final four outs for his eighth save of the season.

Royce Bolinger and Alex Stanford added two hits apiece for the Bulldogs.

With the win, Gonzaga improved to 28-17 overall and 8-9 in the WCC.

Saint Mary’s fell to 22-22 and 6-11.

The teams will wrap up the series at noon today.

Wenatchee Valley 7-1, CCS 3-0: The Knights swept the Sasquatch in an NWAACC doubleheader in Wenatchee.

The loss drops the Sasquatch to 16-24 overall and 8-16 in conference games. Wenatchee Valley improved to 19-17 and 11-13.

Washington 6, USC 3: The Huskies (25-18, 10-10) racked up 19 hits and beat the Trojans (22-20, 7-12) in the second game of a three-game Pac-12 Conference series at Dedeaux Field in Los Angeles.

Joe Meggs had four hits and Jacob Lamb had three hits and drove in two runs for the Huskies.

Washington and USC will wrap up the series at 1 p.m. today.
