Plaster cow stolen from Cd’A flea market recovered

COEUR d’ALENE — An Idaho man on felony probation for burglary is in a whole herd of trouble after a fiberglass cow taken from outside a Coeur d’Alene flea market was spotted on his front porch. Police Sgt. Christie Wood says 23-year-old Brandon M. Hiza said he and a friend took the cow on April 27 “to be funny.” Local media outlets ran stories about the rustled cow, which had been chained to the sidewalk. The Coeur d’Alene Press reports police received a call from a man whose daughter saw photos of the suspect posing with the cow on his Facebook account. The cow was recovered Wednesday morning. Hiza faces a charge of grand theft. Flea market owners Jeff and Tracy Gagnon say they’ll keep the cow inside at night until they can get a better chain.
