Idaho track teams keep lead

The Idaho men’s and women’s track and field teams both lead after the third day of the Western Athletic Conference Championships Thursday at the Dan O’Brien Track & Field Complex in Moscow, Idaho.

Sophomore Kyle Rothwell had a good showing for the Vandal men. Rothwell won the hammer throw with a toss of 187 feet, 7 inches and came in fifth in the discus with a throw 149-6.

For the women, Idaho’s Alycia Butterworth and Holly Stanton finished first and second, respectively, in the steeplechase.

• Eastern Washington’s Kersee Lind finished seventh at the Big Sky Conference multi-event Championships in Bozeman, Mont.

Softball

Tuiuli Felise scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning, giving Southern Nevada an 8-7 win over North Idaho in the opening round of the Region 18 Tournament in Salt Lake City.

NIC will play Western Nevada in a loser-out game today.

Women’s golf

Idaho senior Kayla Mortellara shot a 1-over 73 and is tied for 18th after the first round of the NCAA West Regional Golf Tournament at Colorado National Golf Club in Erie, Colo.
