NW small college football: PLU defeats Whitworth

Niko Madison scored two rushing touchdowns, Kyle Warner caught a pair of touchdown passes from Dalton Ritchey and the Pacific Lutheran Lutes (6-2, 5-1) scored on four of their first five possessions en route to a 35-14 victory over the Whitworth Pirates (6-3, 2-3) in Northwest Conference football at Puyallup, Wash.

The Pirates, who trailed 28-0 at the half, scored with 2:37 left in the third quarter when Bryan Peterson hit Austin Ehlo from the 1-yard line.

Whitworth’s other TD came in the final quarter when Peterson connected with Connor Williams from 26 yards out.

Ronnie Thomas led the Whitworth running attack with 90 yards on 22 carries.

Peterson finished 19-of-32 passing for 189 yards and two interceptions. Jake DeGooyer caught nine passes for 88 yards.

The Pirates conclude their season Saturday when they host Lewis & Clark.

Linfield 47, Puget Sound 7: Mickey Inns completed 27 of 39 passes for 422 yards and three TDs to power the third-ranked Wildcats (8-0, 5-0) to an easy victory over the Loggers (0-8, 0-5) in Northwest Conference play in Tacoma.

Backup quarterback Josh Yoder added 119 passing yards to give Linfield a school-record 541 on the day.

Deidre Wiersma paced the Wildcats’ air attack with eight catches for 133 yards and two scores.

Central Washington 36, Western Oregon 32: Ryan Robertson hit Anthony Spain for a 19-yard TD with 3:08 remaining in the game to lift the Wildcats (6-4, 6-3) over the Wolves (5-5, 5-4) in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action in Ellensburg.

CWU saw a 24-3 lead evaporate and the Wolves took the lead on a 30-yard scoring strike from Joe Harris to Antoinne Wafer with 6:19 left to play.

Rocky Mountain 31, Carroll College 28: Pete Anderson ran for 159 yards and two TDs and Andre McCollouch caught five passes for 80 yards and two scores to lead the Battlin’ Bears (5-5, 4-5) to a win over the NAIA 16th-ranked Fighting Saints (6-4, 6-3) in Frontier Conference play in Billings.
