Obituary: Birr, Betty Jean Allison (Cruse)

Age 92

BIRR, Betty Jean Allison (Cruse) (Age 92) Betty went home to be with our Lord on November 19th and is now reunited with so many she loved who have gone before her.

Beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Betty was born at Sacred Heart Hospital to Henry M. and Margaret A. Cruse on October 6th, 1920.

She had one brother, Henry M. Cruse, who preceded her in death in 1986.

Betty spent most of her life in Spokane, WA and graduated from North Central High School.

She went to work in the retail industry and spent most of her career at “The Bon Marche” where she was the Division Sales Manager.

Betty is survived by two daughters, Judy Bell (Larry) of Everett, WA and Sally Denton (Sam) of Post Falls, Idaho.

Great losses in Betty’s life include a third daughter, Linda Lewis-May (John), her grandson Joseph Guatney, her son Bob Allison (Gail) and grandson Greg Allison who will all be waiting for her in heaven with open arms.

It will be quite a party.

She was very proud of her grandchildren, Jeff Johnson (Sharlene), Darrin Johnson (Lisa), Tommy Guatney, Natalie Drake (Brian), Ryan Allison (Kim), and Jessica Heuett (Josh), her eight great grandchildren (Danielle, Brennon, Thomas, Mekole, Madeline, Henry, Dylan and Denton) as well as her newest great-great granddaughter Kate Elizabeth Neatherlin.

Additionally, Betty is survived by two step-children and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Will Birr who died in 2008.

Betty was a member of Advent Lutheran Church.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held in the spring of 2013.

The family wishes to recognize and thank the staff at Providence St. Joseph Care Center and Hospice of North Idaho.

“Life should be not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather, skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming “WHOO HOO, What a ride!!!”
