Obituary: Buerck, Rosenell C. “Rose”
She was born in a train depot at Kettle River, Minnesota on August 22, 1928 to George and Annie Reynolds.
Rose was the fourth of two sisters and a brother who have preceded her in death.
After graduating from Moose Lake High School in 1946, she went to Glacier Park to work as a telegraph operator for the Great Northern Railroad.
Her job later took her to Colbert, Washington where she met Wes Buerck, who also worked for the Great Northern.
They were married in 1949.
They raised their family in a home that Wes built, and where Rose lived for the past 57 years.
Later in life Rose worked as a bookkeeper for the law firm Delay, Curran, Thompson, Pontarolo & Walker of Spokane.
After Rose retired in 1991 she cared for her husband Wes until his death in 1993.
Rose had an unwavering faith and was a member of her church for 60 years where she shared her talents by teaching children and playing the piano.
She loved working outside in her flower and vegetable gardens, as well as being in the great outdoors.
Rose was really in her element when camping, huckleberry picking, or hiking with her family and friends.
Her legacy as a selfless caregiver blossomed into family, neighbors and friends eager to help her live “independently” during her last years.
Rose is survived by her daughters; Sandra (Bob) Hendrickson, Bonnie (Dave) Stenersen and her son Gary Buerck.
She has six grand- children; Ben Hendrickson (Kris), Matt Hendrickson (Nicole), Joe Hendrickson (Andrea), Mark Stenersen, Becky Burson (Sean), Sara Stenersen.
Rose also has seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Rose’s life will be held on Saturday, December 1st at 11:00 AM, at New Vision Lutheran Church, West 3307 Rowan Ave., Spokane.
