Obituary: Neubauer, Myrna J.

Age 77

NEUBAUER, Myrna J.

(Age 77) Myrna peacefully passed away at home on November 23, 2012 after battling an extended illness.

She was born to Joseph and Erma Gerl on October 23, 1935 in Bonners Ferry, ID.

She has lived in Spokane for the last 71 years.

She attended McKinley Grade School, Libby Junior High and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1953.

Myrna married Rick Neubauer on November 4, 1954.

They had three sons; Kent, Mark and Scott.

She stayed home to raise her boys until they were in school and then went to work as a bookkeeper at a meat packing plant.

Myrna loved to swim.

She was an avid golfer and belonged to the Liberty Lake Women’s Golf League.

She loved playing cards with her pinochle friends and poker with her family.

She would occasionally spend a little time pressing the buttons on those slot machines.

Rick and Myrna spent many vacations with their good friends Bruce and Joyce Wagar in Las Vegas and fishing on Lake Koocanusa.

Myrna was an awesome bowler and belonged to many leagues.

Myrna loved watching all sports on TV; golf, football, baseball, tennis and basketball.

Summers were spent on the sidelines proudly watching her grandchildren play baseball.

In the fall it was time to watch them play soccer.

Gardening was Myrna’s passion, her beautiful yard showcased many years of hard work and expertise.

Myrna is survived by her husband, Rick; her three sons and daughter-in-laws, Kent (Laurie) of Spokane, Mark of Spokane, Scott (Debbie) of Richland; ten grandchildren Danielle, Sarah, Christopher, Joel, Bryce, Rachel, Taylor, Megan, Mallory, Max, and two great-grandchildren Owen and Madison; her brothers, Joseph Gerl, Daniel Gerl, Timothy Gerl and sister Vallorie Walter.

Rick would like to express his gratitude to Hospice of Spokane, Annette Wagar, Laurie Neubauer, and Myrna’s good friends Jean and Marilyne for their love and support during Myrna’s extended illness.

Myrna was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend.

She had a beautiful infectious smile and will be missed by everyone who knew her.

A time of visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Thursday, November 29, 2012 from 10 am to 5 pm and again on Friday, November 30, 2012 from 8 am to 5 pm.

A funeral service will be held in honor of Myrna’s life at Heritage Funeral Home on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 2 pm.
