USF outlasts Gonzaga in volleyball

Jocelyn Levig, who had 18 kills and five aces, served San Francisco to a 4-0 lead in the deciding fifth game as the visiting Dons (11-6, 2-2 West Coast Conference) edged Gonzaga 3-2 in volleyball play Thursday.

Savannah Blinn had 18 kills and Kristina Lavrisha 21 digs for the Bulldogs (9-8, 1-3).

• Lexi Robinson and Lisa Parlich combined for 27 kills and North Dakota (8-9, 4-3 Big Sky) won the final games 25-23, 25-16 to defeat host Eastern Washington 3-1.

Allie Schumacher led the Eagles (0-18, 0-7) with 13 kills.

Golf

University of Washington senior Chris Williams (Moscow High) shot an 8-under-par 64 to take the first-round lead at the World Amateur Team Championship at Antalya, Turkey.

Williams, billed as No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, had an eagle and seven birdies over the final 14 holes.

Williams and teammate Justin Thomas of Alabama shot a record 13-under 131.
