Post Falls wins soccer regional

Post Falls earned a first-round home match in the Idaho State 5A boys soccer playoffs by capturing the Region I championship Monday, 3-0 over visiting Coeur d’Alene.

Kobe Nuss scored on a header and assisted on Mason King’s game-winning goal at the 15-minute mark to lead the Trojans.

Post Falls will play an 11:30 a.m. match Oct. 18 against an opponent to be determined. CdA plays the Districtt III fifth-place team on Saturday in Boise for a state berth.

4A Region I: Joab Logan scored four goals as second-seeded Sandpoint rolled over No. 3 Moscow 5-1 in a loser-out match to earn a date at top-seeded Lakeland on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. with a trip to state on the line.

Men’s golf

Led by freshman Evan Omelia and sophomore Kurt Simmons, who finished 1-2, Community Colleges of Spokane had six of the top 11 scorers in recording a 35-stroke win in the Columbia Basin College Invitational in the Tri-Cities.

Omelia claimed medalist honors with a 3-under-par 213. Simmons, who closed with the tournament’s low round, a 4-under 68 Monday at Sun Willows, was a stroke back.

CCS beat NIC 865-900 for its third straight tournament win.

Brennan Stillenger was sixth at 221 to lead NIC.

College basketball

Season ticket packages for the Idaho men and women are on sale.

Packages for the Vandals men, who play 14 home games, run from $50 for youth general admission to $250 for courtside seats.

Tickets for the women, who have a 12-game home schedule, are $50 for all general admission to $250 for courtside seating.
