CV defeats Gonzaga Prep in GSL girls soccer

Savannah Hoekstra scored the only goal of the game in the 25th minute as Central Valley sent host Gonzaga Prep to its first Greater Spokane League loss of the season with a 1-0 victory Wednesday.

The Bears improved to 9-1, 6-0 GSL. The Bullpups are 9-2, 5-1.

Also in the GSL, Riley Richardson scored twice to give her 12 goals this season as the Mt. Spokane Wildcats earned their third straight shutout by defeating visiting North Central 5-0. Mt. Spokane (11-0, 6-0) outshout the Indians (2-7, 1-5) 20-2. … Chloe Williams scored twice and Sarah Curran added a goal, all in the first half, as the Lewis and Clark Tigers (4-4, 3-3) beat the Shadle Park Highlanders (2-7, 1-5) 3-0 at Joe Albi Stadium. LC outshot the SP 13-6. … The University Titans (8-3, 5-2) outscored the Ferris Saxons (4-7, 0-7) 4-2 in the shootout for a 3-2 victory at U-Hi. … Alea Acosta scored twice as the Mead Panthers (7-2, 4-2) routed the visiting Rogers Pirates (1-7, 0-7) 7-0. Six of Mead’s goals came in the first half.

Anthony Fox scored the only goal of the second half to give Sandpoint a 3-2 win over host Lakeland in a 4A Region I match, giving the Bulldogs (11-5-2) the top seed from the region at the state tournament.
