Sandpoint boys win State 4A boys soccer crown

Anthony Fox, Jeffrey Rokstad and Jeremiah Gagnon all scored as the Sandpoint boys soccer team secured its second state title in four years with a 3-2 win over Skyview on Saturday in the Idaho State 4A title match in Idaho Falls.

Gagnon also had an assist for the Bulldogs, who ended the season on a seven-match winning streak.

Cesar Sosa and Kevin Field scored for Skyview. Goalkeeper Jacob Nitu’s nine saves kept Sandpoint from making it a rout.

Skyview’s two goals were the only ones Sandpoint gave up in three state matches.

The Bulldogs’ last postseason match against Skyview was a 5-4 win in 2009. Sandpoint went on to win the title that year after beating Bonneville 2-1.

Idaho 3A: Jake Tremble’s unassisted goal in the 45th minute was all Bonners Ferry needed as the Badgers blanked Teton 1-0 and took third place in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Garrett Skeen made eight saves for the Badgers (10-6-1) to preserve the shutout.

The Badgers were making their eighth straight appearance in the state tournament. They took second place in 2010.
