Passed away on September 3, 2012 in Spokane Valley, WA.
She was born on January 15, 1929 in Fargo, ND to Alfred and Ellen Craig.
She grew up in the Spokane Valley and Garfield, WA.
She graduated from Central Valley High School.
She attended Kinman Business School and Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing.
In 1949, she and her family established Sunshine Health Facilities.
Margaret became a licensed nursing home administrator and together with her husband Joe, operated Community Nursing Home which later became Sunshine Gardens Nursing Home.
The business grew to include two boarding homes focused on people with mental health disorders and related disabilities, home health care, independent housing, and continues to bless the community.
Margaret’s mission has always been “Wellness Is Our Passion, Life Enrichment Is Our Goal”.
This focus has been and continues to be directed towards the residents that are entrusted to the care of the organization.
The employees of Sunshine Health Facilities are highly valued and integral in fulfilling the mission of caring.
Margaret had a sincere dedication to God from an early age.
She was a member of Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene, serving for many years on the church board, teaching Sunday School and was president of the Missionary Society.
She was very involved in her community as a member of the Washington Health Care Association and a member of the Spokane Valley Chamber.
She was a foster parent and a Camp Fire Leader.
Margaret quietly practiced charitable giving to numerous organizations including her church and Northwest Nazarene University.
She lived the great commission, loved and lived the song “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”.
She is survived by her children, David Dikes, Carol Dikes and Nathan (Jennifer) Dikes; two grandchildren, Craig Kenyon and Olivia Mae; her sister, Dolores Rhoads; many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph N. Dikes in 2000, and her brother, Lowell Craig.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 8, 2012, Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene, 15515 East 20th Avenue (20th and Sullivan).
