Clinton raises funds for Inslee

By Gene Johnson Associated Press
SEATTLE — Former President Bill Clinton has helped raise more than $500,000 for Washington’s Democratic candidate for governor, Jay Inslee. Clinton spoke to more than 3,000 people at the Washington state convention center Saturday afternoon, telling them that Inslee has the right vision for creating clean energy and biotechnology jobs that can boost the economy while fighting climate change. Tickets were $150, and attendees could get their picture taken with the former president for $5,000. Other speakers included Democratic Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell. Inslee raised $1.2 million in cash contributions last month, just slightly more than his Republican opponent, Attorney General Rob McKenna, who raised $1 million. Heading into the weekend, McKenna and Inslee had each raised about about $8.6 million for their campaigns.
