Mt. Spokane tops LC in GSL volleyball

Brooke Reilly and Kennedy Clute led the way as Mt. Spokane cruised to a 3-1 win over Lewis and Clark in Greater Spokane League volleyball play Tuesday night at Mt. Spokane.

Match scores were 25-19, 25-21, 20-25, 25-18. Reilly had 21 kills and three blocks and Clute had 19 kills. Paiton Larson contributed 44 assists.

The Tigers (1-3) were led by Joslyn Bopray’s 13 kills and three blocks.

Mt. Spokane (3-1) remained tied for second place in the GSL, one game behind first-place Mead.

Elsewhere in the GSL, Paige Montgomery had four kills and Hannah Absalongson handed out 13 assists as Mead (4-0) stayed perfect with a 25-10, 25-8, 25-10 rout at North Central. Morgen Kelly had three kills for the Indians (0-4). … Darby Santos had 15 kills and 12 aces to guide Shadle Park (2-2) to a 25-15, 25-16, 19-25, 25-13 win over visiting Ferris. The Saxons (1-3) were led by Hannah Moore’s nine kills. … Taylor Butters had 12 kills and Tara Nittberg had 22 digs and four aces as Central Valley (3-1) defeated Rogers 25-12, 25-12, 23-25, 25-22 at Rogers. Sydney Roberts led the Pirates (1-3) with 24 assists and an ace. … Kayleigh Valley and Sydney Schlect had 11 kills apiece to lead University (3-1) to a sweep over visiting Gonzaga Prep (2-2). Match scores were 25-18, 25-21 and 25-23.

• Great Northern League: Joellee Buchner had 14 kills and seven digs and Jacy Vining had seven aces as Colville swept East Valley in a battle of GNL unbeatens at East Valley.

Leanna Carr dished out 28 assists for the Indians (4-0), who took over sole possession of first place in the league standings.

Elisha Allred had five kills and Brooklyn Jeris had nine digs to lead the Knights (4-1).

Elsewhere in the GNL, Cheney pulled away in the fifth set and won at West Valley. Match scores were 25-20, 23-25, 25-27, 25-20 and 15-5. Ashley Seiler had 21 kills for the Blackhawks (2-2) and Jerrilyn Prichard had 12 kills for the Eagles (0-5). … Pullman, led by the serving of Rachel Dinsmoor, made quick work of Deer Park, beating the Stags 25-22, 25-9, 25-23 in Pullman. Dinsmoor had four aces and rattled off eight straight points in the Greyhounds’ dominating second set. Shayla Robinson had 10 kills and Brittani Harvey had 10 digs and eight kills for Pullman (3-1). Deer Park (1-3) was led by Sierra English-Largent’s six kills and three aces.

Boys soccer

• Inland Empire League: Senior Sean Palmer had a hat trick and Coeur d’Alene eased past Lewiston (2-5, 0-5) 8-0 during senior day at Coeur d’Alene.

Seniors Graison Le and Kevin Hampson added two goals apiece for the Vikings (5-3, 3-1), who held a 17-3 advantage in shots.

Girls soccer

• Great Northern League: Halie Gronenthal’s hat trick lifted West Valley (6-1, 4-1) to a 4-2 win over visiting Cheney (3-4, 2-2). Gronenthal opened the scoring in the second minute, with a goal off an assist from Jenna Sullens.

She scored her second goal 20 minutes later and completed the hat trick with a goal off a free kick in the 50th minute.

Sullens also scored for the Eagles, who held a 14-4 advantage in shots. Chae Brown scored both of the Blackhawks’ goals.

Elsewhere in the GNL, five players scored as East Valley (3-5, 2-3) shut out visiting Colville (1-5, 0-3) 6-0. Nikki Roemer scored twice, including the final goal in the 65th minute. Maddie Bastin, Brittany Dugger, Maddie Meade and Adriene Turner also scored for East Valley. … Becky Burchett scored five goals as Pullman (7-1, 4-0) routed Deer Park (2-5, 0-3) 9-2 in Pullman. Burchett scored four of her goals in the second half.
