Wash. jailers find sawblade in slippers for inmate

Associated Press
OKANOGAN, Wash. — Okanogan authorities arrested a woman after finding a saw blade in the sole of an Isotoner slipper in a package bound for a man accused of shooting at a deputy. The Wenatchee World reports that 26-year-old Emily M. Stokes was arrested for suspicion of second-degree introduction of contraband. Her package was heading to 27-year-old Neal S. Mix, who authorities say rolled his vehicle and allegedly broke out the window and fired his shotgun at a deputy last November. Stokes was with Mix during that November incident. Authorities say she showed up at the jail on March 24, “real nervous and fidgety,” and did not provide her identification when she left the package for Mix. Jail staff recognized her from previous visits.
