Lohan to complete 18 months of therapy

Lindsay Lohan has completed her court-ordered stay in rehab and must continue therapy into late next year, a judge said Wednesday. The actress must meet with a therapist at least three times a week until November 2014, Superior Court Judge James R. Dabney said, following the treatment recommendation of Richard Taite, founder and CEO of Cliffside Malibu, the rehab facility where Lohan was recently residing.
The judge’s ruling calls for Lohan to receive 18 months of therapy and gives her credit for the three months of rehab that she has just completed. If the actress is traveling, she can meet with her therapist via videoconferencing software, the judge said.
Lohan, 27, remains on probation for a pair of cases involving the theft of a necklace and lying to police when her sports car slammed into a dump truck on Pacific Coast Highway in June 2012.
Bieber escapes criminal charges
The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office declined Wednesday to file criminal charges against Justin Bieber for allegedly hitting a paparazzo with his Ferrari outside The Laugh Factory comedy club. Authorities investigated whether the singer knowingly left the scene of an accident after a run-in June 17 with a photographer outside the nightclub.
Prosecutors said Bieber pulled away from the curb through a “clear path” when paparazzo Damon Walter “suddenly stepped in front of” the vehicle. Walter was hit in the leg and briefly pinned between Bieber’s car and a parked car, prosecutors said. The photographer was treated at a local hospital and released. Officers at the scene determined Walter was “at fault in the collision due to being in the roadway and blocking Bieber’s vehicle,” the filing rejection stated.
The pop singer claimed through his attorney that he was unaware of contact with the photographer, and prosecutors said evidence appeared to back up that claim.
Travis on the mend after stroke
Country music star Randy Travis is out of a Texas hospital three weeks after he was admitted with congestive heart failure and later suffered a stroke. A statement Wednesday said Travis has been discharged from The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano near Dallas, where he was admitted July 7.
The statement from publicist Kirt Webster goes on to say Travis has been moved to a physical therapy center for further treatment for a stroke he suffered July 10. The 54-year-old singer developed the heart failure due to a viral illness. The stroke prompted surgeons to operate to relieve pressure on his brain.
