Durfey ties for third in Round 6 at NFR

LAS VEGAS – Tyson Durfey hasn’t had much success at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, with one small check at the halfway point.

Things changed a bit for the Colbert calf roper in Round 6 on Tuesday as his 7.4-second run was good for a tie for third place and $9,465.14. The rodeo goes 10 rounds, concluding Saturday.

Overall, it was a good night for Washington cowboys.

Ellensburg brothers and team ropers Riley and Brady Minor had a 5-second run to finish second, earning $14,723.56. They remain third in the average.

Cheney bareback rider Ryan Gray tied for sixth with his 81.5 trip on Jesse’s Girl, earning $1,502.40.

Grand Coulee bull rider Shane Proctor covered Johnny Ringo for 76.5 points, not enough to crack the top six and get a check. He remains second in the average but fell further behind J.W. Harris.

Trevor Brazile, of Decatur, Texas, secured his record-breaking 19th gold buckle when he won the all-around championship during round six.
