In Brief: Toys for Titans drive in honor of Freier, Mott

SPOKANE VALLEY – Spokane County Fire District 8 is joining University High School and Albertsons in an attempt to fill a school bus full of toys to be donated to Toys for Tots.

The bus will be parked at the Albertsons at Highway 27 and 32nd Avenue today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Toys for Titans drive is being organized in honor of Josie Freier and McKenzie Mott, U-Hi sophomores killed in a car accident earlier this year. District 8 firefighters first responded to the crash.

Santa Claus has busy schedule

SPOKANE COUNTY – Firefighters from Spokane County Fire District 8 will escort Santa while he makes his rounds of District 8 neighborhoods beginning Tuesday.

Children can visit with Santa and receive a candy cane.

Tuesday: Ponderosa neighborhood south of 44th Avenue, 5:30-8 p.m.

Wednesday: Station 82, 12100 E. Palouse Highway, 5:30-6:15 p.m., and the Albertsons parking lot at Highway 27 and 32nd Avenue, 6:30-8 p.m.

Thursday: Saltese and Morningside area, 5:30-8 p.m.

Friday: Moran Prairie east of Regal and south of 57th Avenue and the Hangman Valley area, 5-8:30 p.m.

Dec. 22: Moran Prairie west of Regal and north of 57th, 5-8:30 p.m.

Dec. 23: Moran Prairie west of Regal and south of 57th, 5-8:30 p.m.
