Sandpoint hands first loss to East Valley

Hailey Olin’s layin after a missed free throw with 9 seconds left gave Sandpoint a 49-48 nonleague girls basketball win over East Valley Saturday in Sandpoint.

Marayah Delgado scored a game-high 20 points for the Bulldogs (7-5). Madison Schoening added 11 and Olin chipped in nine.

An evenly-played first half led to a back-and-forth second half.

The Knights (6-1), who trailed by two at the half, outscored Sandpoint 14-6 in the third quarter to go ahead by six. But the Bulldogs responded in the fourth and secured the win on Olin’s put-back.

EV’s Jordan Phelan scored 12 points and Elle Burland and Hannah Burland added 10 apiece.

Coeur d’Alene 66, Lake Stevens 40: Coeur d’Alene (9-1) took control early and never looked back in an easy win at Lake Stevens. Brittany Tackett tallied a game-high 20 points and Sydney Williams added 17 for Coeur d’Alene, which led 37-16 at the half.

Lewis and Clark 50, Lake City 29: Michaela Kay led three players in double figures with 13 points and the Tigers (5-2) took advantage of a sloppy Timberwolves (7-3) team in an easy win in Coeur d’Alene. Lindsay Lee scored 12 points and Riley Lupfer added 10 for Lewis and Clark, which took advantage of 24 Lake City turnovers.

Colville 50, Chewelah 21: The Indians (5-0) built a commanding halftime lead and eased past the host Cougars (2-5). Sadie Learn scored 15 points and Taryn Main added 11 for Colville, which led 32-10 at the half.

Riverside 38, Deer Park 25: Marisa Pace scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to guide the Rams (4-3) past the visiting Stags (0-7). Riverside gained an early advantage with an 11-2 first-quarter run.

Lakeside (Wash.) 47, Cheney 25: Shaye Swannack and Lindy Jacobson combined for 26 points as the Eagles (6-0) took control from the start in an easy win over the host Blackhawks (1-4). A 19-2 first-quarter run gave Lakeside all the momentum. Cheney was led by Megan McDowell, who scored 10 points.

Odessa-Harrington 46, Curlew 32: Laressa Simmon scored 15 points and Katie DeWulf added 11 as the Titans (4-3) used a dominant third-quarter effort to get past the host Cougars (3-3). Haleigh Gibson and Kayleona Fanning combined for 21 points for Curlew.

Newport 52, Priest River 49: Emily Lewis’ 3-pointer with 2 minutes left put the Grizzlies (6-1) on top for good in a win over the Spartans at the Priest River tournament at Priest River. Jolie Frederick tallied a team-high 13 points for Newport. Katlyn Summers had 14 points for the Spartans (5-4).

Selkirk 46, Lakeside (Idaho) 40: Katie Couch erupted for 27 points as the Rangers (3-4) pulled away late to beat the Knights (3-7) at the Priest River tournament. Selkirk outscored Lakeside 17-10 in the fourth. Kim Duncan tallied a team-high 16 points for the Knights.

Cusick 53, Wellpinit 30: Caitlyn Nenema scored 16 points to guide the Panthers (3-2) past the Redskins (3-3) at the Wellpinit Christmas tournament. Cusick jumped out to a 14-3 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Jamie Pascal led Wellpinit with eight points.

Intermountain League

Kellogg 52, Bonners Ferry 27: Kenadie Arthur scored 14 points as the Wildcats (5-2) shook off a sluggish start and dumped the visiting Badgers (1-6, 0-2). Kellogg trailed by three after the first quarter but outscored Bonners Ferry 44-16 the rest of the way. Desi Minor paced the Badgers with nine points.

Northeast 2B

St. George’s 46, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 45: Ceci Bergquist’s layin and free throw with 9 seconds left gave the Dragons (3-5, 1-3) a win over the visiting Broncos (2-3, 2-1). St. George’s Hailey Higashi scored 20 points and Bergquist added 17.

Northwest Christian 69, Davenport 46: Chanel Knight led four players in double figures with 26 points and the Crusaders (8-0, 4-0) defeated the host Gorillas (3-4, 1-2). Allison Johnson led Davenport with 14 points.

Colfax 53, Reardan 21: Amura Huber scored 15 points and the Bulldogs (5-1, 4-0) used a 13-1 first-quarter run to get past the host Indians (1-6, 0-4). Michelle Tinsley scored eight points for Reardan.

Liberty 44, Springdale 37: The Lancers (3-5, 2-1) jumped ahead early and withstood the Chargers’ comeback-attempt in a win in Springdale. Christine Denny scored 19 points and Aly Tee added 10 for Liberty, which led 17-5 after the first quarter. Ellish Smith had 11 points for Springdale (1-7, 0-3).

Southeast 1B

St. John-Endicott 45, Rosalia 30: The Eagles (4-1, 3-0) used a 15-2 third-quarter run to get past the host Spartans (3-1, 2-1). St. John-Endicott’s Abby Glorfield led a balanced scoring attack with nine points. Rosalia’s Mackenzie Reddish scored a game-high 18 points – giving her more than 1,000 for her career.

Tekoa-Oakesdale 75, Liberty Christian 32: Jacey Johnson scored 19 points and Matti Jo Johnson added 16 as the Nighthawks (5-0, 2-0) routed the visiting Patriots (1-2, 1-2). Kim Groom (15) and Cassandra Mendoza (14) also scored in double digits for T-O. Wynter Greeno paced Liberty Christian with 13 points.

Touchet 54, LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus 18: Cierra Jo McKeown led all players with 32 points and the Indians (1-2, 1-2) dumped the visiting Tigercats (1-3, 0-3). Jazzmyn Gordon and Nicole Harder scored six points apiece for LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus.

Colton 83, Pomeroy 18: Jenna Moser scored 24 points and the Wildcats (4-0, 2-0) overwhelmed the visiting Pirates (1-2, 1-2). Zoe Moser and Jackie Warner scored 15 points apiece for Colton.
