Obituary: Kragelund, Kathleen Marie

KRAGELUND, Kathleen Marie Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Kathleen Marie Kragelund died peacefully at home February 16, 2013, surrounded by family.

Born April 19, 1948 in Newark, NJ, she attended Tombrock College where she was honored as Woman of the Year, and became a Flight Attendant for TWA.

In 1969, she met her future husband Keith Kragelund in New York.

They were engaged by Christmas, married July 18, 1970, and then moved to Spokane.

Blessed with four children: Sean, Scott, Sarah and Kevin.

Attended GU 1988-1991, graduated with honors, and taught at G. Prep.

Moved to Tacoma in 1998, working for Costco until her illness.

Survived by husband Keith, children Sean (Lynn), Monterey, CA; Scott (Lonie), Puyallup; Sarah (Jeremy Brown) Missoula; and son Kevin (Rachael) Tacoma; grandchildren Sierra, Faryn, Ryan, Maura, Brielle, Eleanor, Liliana, Madeline, and Ruby; her brother Jim (Kathy) Collis, Brick, NJ; sisters Lynn D’Alessandro, Caldwell, NJ; Norma (Bill) Palmer, Verona, NJ; Anne (Mark) Devestern, New Milford, CT; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents Bob and Roberta Collis, Verona, NJ.

Proud of and true to her Irish heritage, Kathy’s faith, outgoing personality, hospitality, friendliness, courage, strong sense of family, and great sense of humor will be cherished and missed by all.

The family thanks the staff at Hematology Oncology NW and Franciscan Hospice for their extraordinary care.

A memorial Mass will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, February 22, at St. Leo’s Parish, 710 S 13th.
