NIC falls on late free throws

Skyler Halford made two free throws with a second left to lift host Salt Lake (14-2, 1-0) over North Idaho College 75-74 in a Scenic West Athletic Conference men’s basketball game on Thursday night.

The free throws came after a foul by Jalil Abdul-Bassit, who had just made two free throws of his own to give the Cardinals (15-3, 15-1) a one-point lead with seven seconds remaining.

The Cardinals, who led by four at the half, were led by 15 points from Chris Sarbaugh, 11 from James Webb III and 10 from Keon Lewis.

Halford led four Bruins in double figures with 25.
