Whitworth tops Pioneers, remain perfect in NWC

Colton McCargar scored 18 points and Dustin McConnell added 14 points and 10 rebounds as Whitworth kept its perfect Northwest Conference record intact with a 78-66 men’s basketball win over Lewis & Clark in Portland.

Mack Larkin added 10 points and six rebounds for the Pirates, who led by 10 points at halftime.

Whitworth connected on 24 of 28 from the free-throw line while Lewis & Clark was 7 of 8.

Dexter Pearce made five 3-pointers and finished with 17 points for the Pioneers.

Whitworth improved to 12-1 overall and 4-0 in the NWC. Lewis & Clark fell to 7-6 and 1-3 in conference games.

CC Spokane 90, Big Bend 77: Brady Bagby scored 24 points and Eric Holbrook added 18 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists as the hot-shooting Sasquatch beat the Vikings in a NWAACC opener at Spokane Falls Community College.

Kwinn Hanson added 16 points and seven rebounds for CCS. The Sasquatch made 36 of 69 field goals, including 12 of 26 from beyond the arc.

Brendan Westendorf had 25 points and eight rebounds for Big Bend.

CCS improved to 10-4 overall and 1-0 in NWAACC play. Big Bend fell to 11-4 and 0-1.

North Idaho 84, Snow 77 (OT): The Cardinals sank 9 of 14 free throws in overtime and beat the Badgers in a Scenic West Athletic Conference contest in Ephraim, Utah.

Jalil Abdul-Bassit led five NIC players in double figures with 17 points. Chris Sarbaugh and Michael Middlebrooks scored 14 apiece and James Webb III and Keon Lewis each added 10 for the Cardinals.

After a cold-shooting first half, North Idaho connected on 16 of 27 shots in the second half to force overtime.

Connor Van Brocklin made seven 3-pointers and finished with 35 points for the Badgers.

North Idaho improved to 16-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play. Snow dropped to 13-4 and 1-2.
