Obituary: Grippen, Eleanor Ann

GRIPPEN, Eleanor Ann Eleanor was born to Hildor and Eleanor Ellison on November 29, 1924, in Seattle, WA.

She grew up in Portland, OR and attended Marylhurst University.

On September 8, 1951, she married James Riordan, who passed away in 1972.

She later married Donald Grippen on October 4, 1974, who passed away in 2009.

The clubs and societies Eleanor was involved in were the Marylhurst Alumni, Alter Society, Dirty Dozen Social Club, Ham on Regal and the church choir.

She taught CCD and was the secretary at the Morning Star Boys Ranch.

Eleanor passed away on January 24, 2013, in Spokane, WA.

She is survived by her sons, Jim (Dianna) and Dan (Becky) Riordan; daughter Nancy Knoll; step son Max Grippen; step daughters Sharon (Rex) Schimke and Mary (Bill) Caruso; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be a public viewing on Tuesday, January 29, from 12-5 pm at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home, 2203 North Division.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 30, at 10:00 am at St. Peters Catholic Church, 3520 East 18th.

Interment will be on Wednesday, January 30, at 1:00 pm at Holy Cross Cemetery.
