Judge sets alleged shooter’s bond at $1 million

A man accused of shooting his friend before trying to dismember the body to conceal the crime appeared in court this afternoon. Jeremy McVicker, 19, is charged with first-degree manslaughter for allegedly killing 19-year-old Dylan J. Heinen. A Spokane County Superior Court judge set bond at $1 million. McVicker appeared in court via live video feed from the Spokane County Jail. McVicker told police he accidentally shot Heinen in the head early Tuesday morning at 4818 North Lincoln, where a few friends had been drinking together. When requesting the bond amount, Rachel Sterret with the Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office said “this is based on the nature of the allegation, which was extremely serious.” The courtroom was packed with more than a dozen of Heinen’s family members and friends.
