A slap in the face

What a slap in the face to rename the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena. Why dishonor vets past and present with this idea?

Instead of World War II, let’s change it to Bon Jovi War, it would only take five or six months and we could change it back. Or we could change The Spokesman-Review to Bon Jovi Review, it would only be for five or six months too.

The sponsor of this idea likely never served one day for the nation. What if all the servicemen had taken five or six months off to do their own thing? We probably would be speaking German or Japanese now.

Did I serve? Yes, in World War II, and you can bet I don’t like this idea just so someone can enlarge their income.

Jay Cline

Newport, Wash.

(Editor’s note: Officials have dropped the idea to temporarily change the name for the Bon Jovi concert.)
