One dead in north Spokane shooting

Investigators were searching for the killer this evening after a fatal shooting inside a home in north Spokane. Emergency personnel responded just after 5 p.m. to the report of a gunshot inside the home at 4508 N. Lincoln St. Arriving officers and firefighters found a male dead from an apparent gunshot wound, Spokane police Capt. Dave Richards said. “We are still trying to separate the witnesses from the neighbors,” he said. “We are looking for cars and people who may or may not be involved. We are still trying to unravel what happened.” A woman, described as the dead man’s roommate, was inside the home at the time of the shooting but apparently did not witness it, Richards said. “We’re not even sure of the victim’s identity at this point,” he said. The roommate was taken to the police station for interviews with major crimes detectives. “We arrived on scene and immediately started to get our arms around it,” he said. “We are so early in this investigation.” Richards also wasn’t sure of the identity of the shooter. “I don’t believe the person is in the area at all.” A weapon had not been recovered at the scene. Richards did not provide an age range for the male, who won’t be identified until much later in the investigation, he said.
