Obituary: Schalock, Nancy Carroll (Hall)

Age 80

In Loving Memory of SCHALOCK, Nancy Carroll (Hall) Nancy Carroll (Hall) Schalock, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend went to be with her Lord on May 21, 2013.

Nancy was born on October 7, 1932 in Issaquah, WA.

To Jack and Vi (Forte) Hall.

Nancy was the second child to be born to Jack and Vi, first born Betty J.

Hall, (Chalmers) and third born, brother Kenneth G. Hall (Adrienne).

Nancy moved with her family to Chewelah, WA in 1948.

She lived on the family farm up Cottonwood and enjoyed working with the animals.

She and brother Kenny even nursed a lost fawn they called Penny, to health and loved her very much.

She and sister Betty were scamps and loved to play jokes on their baby brother Kenny to Kenny’s great verbal disliking.

Nancy met and married the love of her life Gene A. Schalock at Jenkins High School.

They married January 28, 1950 in Chewelah during a near history making snowfall and cold snap.

Nancy and Gene raised three children, Wanda Rains (Bob), Steve (Rhonda) and Kevin (Julie) in Chewelah, the town they both loved and in which chose to live their entire life.

Nancy’s friends were so precious to her.

She loved spending time with them visiting and often talking about the good ole days.

Nancy made many wonderful memories in a life well lived.

Some of her happiest and proudest memories were the birth and growth of her beloved grandchildren, Ryan Berendsen, Hunter Rains (Alexandra), Tyson Schalock (Christie), Ashley Schalock, Evan Schalock (Amanda), and Kelsey Schalock.

And then came the joy of new babies to love, great-grandchildren, Ilyhn Berendsen, James Berendsen, Serene Berendsen (Ryan and Honey), Kailani Rains (Hunter and Sunshine) and the newest baby, Braden Schalock (Tyson and Christie).

Nancy’s grand babies made her life full and each day new.

Family, friends and members of the community were all blessed to have eaten many of Nancy’s dishes of food.

She showed her love of family, friends and community by always volunteering her talent of cooking, baking and organizing many get- together’s with family and friends.

Nancy was working hard to come back from the stroke she suffered in November after having open-heart surgery.

She was able to cook again and take care of her beloved home.

She felt she was still living a very good life.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Vi and her brother Kenneth G. Hall.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gene, daughter, Wanda (Bob), son’s Steve (Rhonda), and Kevin (Julie).

Grandchildren, Ryan, Hunter (Alexandra), Tyson (Christie), Ashley.

Evan (Amanda), and Kelsey, her four beloved great-grandchildren, sisters Betty Chalmers, Adrienne Hall (Kenny) and Gail Schalock Gumm (Phillip), brother Pete Schalock (Susan) and many cherished nieces and nephews.

To those she left behind she is watching over you every day with a smile on her beautiful face showing she loves you all very much.
