Fairchild recalls most furloughed workers

Staff reports
The federal government has recalled most furloughed civilians who perform work for Fairchild Air Force Base. The government shutdown had closed the base library, education center, military testing office, pre-teen center, youth sports, child care, the Airman’s Attic, the recycing center and housing office. Each were reopened today. Starting Tuesday, the base commissary will resume normal operations. Also Tuesday, furloughed members for the Air National Guard’s 141st Air Refueling Wing will reurn to duty. About 300 civilians and 248 inactive guardsmen were furloughed on Oct. 1.
