Another week, another ranking topped by the little guys.

Lind-Ritzville/ Sprague and Freeman showed their dominance this season once again, winning Friday games against Northwest Christian and Riverside by a combined 90-3 to retain their stronghold at the top of the NWPrepsNow Power Rankings.

SWX sports director Sam Adams doesn’t want the Freeman defense to go unheralded. “Three straight shutout victories and 14 consecutive quarters without surrendering a point,” he noted.

Brett Rypien’s historic 613-yard performance in a 63-42 win over Mt. Spokane vaulted Shadle Park up three spots to a tie with Ferris for No. 3, while the Wildcats dropped off the list.

“This team is soaring,” said NWPrepsNow writer Greg Lee of The Spokesman-Review, who put Shadle No. 2 on his list.

“You can see the confidence growing each week. They’re believers.”

Ferris took care of business against North Central, 50-14 , and Lee thought enough of the Saxons to give them his first-place vote. “Consistent sums up the Saxons,” Lee said. “They will do nothing but improve the final four weeks of the season.”

Coeur d’Alene evened its record at 3-3 with a dominant 48-7 home win against Lewiston and is No. 5.

Rounding out the rankings at No. 6 are the Gonzaga Prep Bullpups, who topped the list two weeks ago but fell out last week after a loss to Shadle Park.
