Prep roundup: Allred, Knights defeat Cheney

Elisha Allred had 17 kills and four aces as the East Valley volleyball team swept Cheney Tuesday night in Cheney and overtook the Blackhawks for second place in the Great Northern League. Scores were 25-23, 25-19 and 25-18.

Emily Sior dished out 34 assists for the Knights. Cheney (5-3) was led by Ashley Seiler’s 27 kills and 11 digs and Kinsey Pease’s 36 assists.

East Valley (6-3) hosts first-place Colville on Thursday. The Knights won at Colville in five sets on Sept. 24.

Colville def. West Valley: Aubrey Buckner had 15 kills, five aces, and two blocks as the Indians (7-2) eased past the visiting Eagles (0-9). Scores were 25-16, 25-11 and 25-8. Hannah Smith added 25 assists for Colville. For West Valley, Katelyn Sage recorded nine digs and an ace.

Clarkston def. Deer Park: Kimmy Henriod had 10 kills and six blocks and the Bantams (5-4) used a dominating third-set win to dump the visiting Stags (2-6). Scores were 25-21, 21-25, 25-7 and 25-18. Hailey Denton added 32 assists and six digs for Clarkston. Sierra English stood out for Deer Park with 13 kills, 12 digs, and three aces.

Coeur d’Alene def. Lake City: Sydney Williams had 16 kills and four blocks and Miranda Miller added 16 kills as the Vikings (3-3) took the final two sets and beat the Timberwolves (3-3) in an Inland Empire League 5A match in Coeur d’Alene. Scores were 25-21, 11-25, 23-25, 25-22 and 15-11. Madi Farrell had 16 kills and nine blocks and C.C. Cates added 39 assists for LC.

Priest River def. Timberlake: Karly Douglas dished out a match-high 31 assists to guide the Spartans (4-2) past the visiting Tigers (0-6) in Intermountain League play. Scores were 25-16, 25-22, 22-25 and 25-20.

Girls soccer

West Valley 4, Colville 1: Kat Knorr and Jenna Sullens scored first-half goals to power the Eagles (11-2, 8-2) past the host Indians (4-8, 3-6) in a Great Northern League match. Mia Luu scored Colville’s lone goal in the 61st minute.

East Valley 3, Cheney 1: Chelsea Love had two goals and an assist to guide the Knights (8-3, 8-2) past the host Blackhawks (4-8, 3-6) in a GNL match. Love opened the scoring in the 29th minute and gave East Valley a 2-0 advantage in the 52nd minute. She assisted on Skylar Bastin’s goal 5 minutes later. Kendyl Cone scored Cheney’s lone goal in the 79th minute.

Clarkston 3, Deer Park 0: Katelyn Sly had a goal and an assist to lead the Bantams (8-4, 6-4) past the visiting Stags (2-10, 1-8) in a GNL match. Sly opened the scoring with a penalty-kick goal in the 22nd minute. Skye Blank scored in the 37th minute and Ryen Nicholas capped the scoring with a goal in the 47th minute. DP keeper Jennifer Roberts had 15 saves.
