Trio of QBs leave injured

Extent of injuries not yet determined

Associated Press

It was a tough day for quarterbacks.

St. Louis’ Sam Bradford, Chicago’s Jay Cutler and Philadelphia’s Nick Foles all left with injuries Sunday.

Bradford was hurt in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 30-15 loss to the Carolina Panthers when he landed on his left knee after being shoved out of bounds by Panthers safety Mike Mitchell. The team offered no update on the extent of the injury.

Coach Jeff Fisher said Bradford “was in significant pain on the sideline.”

“It’s a left knee and it’s the knee with the brace on it,” Fisher said. “We’re going to get off the airplane and he’ll go have an MRI, so we’ll have some information on that later.”

Cutler injured his groin while being sacked in the second quarter against the Washington Redskins and didn’t return.

Cutler is scheduled to have an MRI exam today.

“He’ll be evaluated when we get back and we’ll know more in the next couple days,” Trestman said. “It’s a groin. It’s not a knee. It’s not an ankle. It’s not a hip.”

The Bears also lost linebacker Lance Briggs (shoulder) and cornerback Charles Tillman (knee) to injuries in the second half.

Foles suffered a head injury when he was sacked by George Selvie and Jarius Wynn on the final play of the third quarter. He walked to the sideline on his own power. He walked to the locker room as the fourth quarter started.

There was no word on the extent of Foles’ injury.

It wasn’t just the quarterbacks who got hurt. Green Bay lost another offensive threat when tight end Jermichael Finley was taken off the field on a stretcher in the fourth quarter following a late hit by safety Tashaun Gipson.

The team said he had a neck injury but had movement in his extremities.

Tampa Bay lost running back Doug Martin to a shoulder injury. Martin said he is “not sure yet” if he will play in Thursday’s game against Carolina.

“Just have to hope for the best,” he said.

Houston’s Arian Foster hurt his hamstring in the first quarter. His backup, Ben Tate, left early in the second half when he took a hard blow to his shoulder and ribs, and Pro Bowl linebacker Brian Cushing left later in the third quarter with what appeared to be a left knee injury.

Other injuries Sunday included Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Leon Hall, who hurt his Achilles tendon.

“It seems pretty significant,” Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said.

The Bengals also lost defensive tackle Devon Still in the first half with an elbow injury. Lions offensive lineman Corey Hilliard hurt his knee in the second half, and Detroit cornerback Rashean Mathis went down with a groin injury.

Bills linebacker Manny Lawson left the game at Miami with a hamstring injury.
