“DANCING WITH THE STARS”: Even before Season 17 starts, we’re celebrating. That’s because they’ve dumped the superfluous and padded results show! Yes, there will only be one weekly airing of “DWTS” (with results included). We can only hope other reality shows follow suit. As for the happy hoofers, they include Valerie Harper, Bill Nye, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and some other “celebrities” that we had to go Google. 8 p.m. Monday, ABC.

SUNDAY: It’s “The 2014 Miss America Competition,” where a lot of gorgeous women will try to smile pretty and avoid saying anything that will turn into an embarrassing viral video. Chris Harrison and Lara Spencer host. 9 p.m., ABC.
SUNDAY: “Foyle’s War” returns with a batch of fresh episodes. It’s 1946, and in the brewing Cold War climate of Britain, our unflappable sleuth (Michael Kitchen) is adjusting to a new era of secrets, intelligence and security as the Iron Curtain descends. 8 p.m., KSPS; 9 p.m., KCDT.
MONDAY: As Season 9 of “Bones” begins, someone really needs to nail that dastardly serial killer, Pelant, so Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) can get back to planning their wedding. 8 p.m., Fox.
MONDAY: Will you dig the nutty new drama, “Sleepy Hollow”? Depends on whether you’re willing to believe that a headless horseman has time-traveled 250 years into the future and is packing an assault rifle. 9 p.m., Fox.
TUESDAY: Benjamin Bratt narrates “Latino Americans.” It’s a three-part documentary series that chronicles the rich history and experiences of Latinos who have helped shape North America over the past 500-plus years. 7 p.m. KSPS; 8 p.m. KCDT.
TUESDAY: Starring Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher as odd-couple cops, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” is one of the season’s most promising sitcoms. It debuts before the season-openers of “New Girl” and “The Mindy Project.” 8:30 p.m., Fox.
WEDNESDAY: From here on out, we never ever want to hear a “Survivor” contestant moan about what a horribly brutal ordeal it is. If that’s the case, why is Rupert Boneham returning for a fourth time on “Survivor: Blood vs. Water”? 8 p.m., CBS.
WEDNESDAY: Yes, we’ll finally get to find out who wins the Season 8 crown on “America’s Got Talent.” But not before they make us sit through two hours of wretched reality TV bloat. 9 p.m., NBC.
THURSDAY: Wow, that didn’t take long. “The Million Second Quiz” crowns a winner and comes to an end tonight, leaving poor host Ryan Seacrest searching for something to fill his free time. 8 p.m., NBC.
FRIDAY: “Great Performances” offers a lavish four-part series that presents filmed adaptations of four of William Shakespeare’s history plays in a single chronological narrative. First up: “Richard II.” 9 p.m., PBS.
SATURDAY: Could there be a painful submission hold on tonight’s “Cupcake Wars”? WWE divas Layla and Alicia Fox drop by to judge wrestling-themed treats and determine whether they’re worthy of being served at SummerSlam. 8 p.m., Food Network.
