UCLA rallies to defeat Nebraska
Brett Hundley threw three touchdown passes in the third quarter and No. 16 UCLA came back from an 18-point deficit to defeat No. 23 Nebraska 41-21 in a monumental Cornhusker collapse at Memorial Stadium on Saturday in Lincoln, Neb.
The Cornhuskers (2-1), wearing alternate black jerseys instead of their traditional home red, looked to be in total control the first half.
Then they couldn’t stop Hundley and a Bruins offense that gained 653 yards while beating them a year ago at the Rose Bowl.
The Bruins (2-0) scored 35 unanswered points in 16 minutes. The barrage started with Paul Perkins’ 10-yard TD run to cut Nebraska’s lead to 21-10 at the half.
Jordon James scored from 3 yards before Hundley threw TD passes of 28 yards to Shaquelle Evans, 12 yards to Phillip Ruhl and 3 yards to Nate Iese.
(2) Oregon 59, Tennessee 14: Marcus Mariota threw for a career-high 456 yards and four TDs and the Ducks (3-0) crushed the Volunteers (2-1) in Eugene.
Freshman Johnny Mundt, had five catches for 121 yards and two TDs for the Ducks. Josh Huff added six catches for 125 yards and a score.
(5) Stanford 34, Army 20: Kevin Hogan threw for three TDs, Tyler Gaffney had two TDs and 132 yards rushing, and the Cardinal (2-0) beat the feisty Black Knights (1-2), who were 30-point underdogs, in West Point, N.Y.
(4) Ohio State 52, California 34: Kenny Guiton threw three of his four TD passes in the first six minutes of his first career start and the Buckeyes (3-0) rolled to their 15th straight victory, beating the Golden Bears (1-2) in Berkeley, Calif.
USC 35, Boston College 7: Cody Kessler passed for 237 yards and two TDs, Tre Madden became the first Southern California player to open a season with three straight 100-yard rushing games in 32 years and the Trojans (2-1) cruised past the Eagles (2-1) in Los Angeles.
Oregon State 51, Utah 48 (OT): Sean Mannion passed for 443 yards and five TDs – including a 6-yarder to Brandin Cooks in overtime and the Beavers (2-1, 1-0 Pac-12) outlasted the Utes (2-1, 0-1) in Salt Lake City.
Travis Wilson’s 9-yard TD run with 21 seconds left sent the game into overtime.
Arizona State 32, (20) Wisconsin 30: Marion Grice rushed for four TDs – two in the fourth quarter – and the Sun Devils (2-0) upset the Badgers (2-1) in Tempe, Ariz.
Wisconsin drove to the ASU 13-yard line, but time ran out before they could get another play off.
Arizona 38, Texas-San Antonio 13: B.J. Denker ran for a pair of TDs and threw for another to power the Wildcats (3-0) to a victory over the Roadrunners (1-2) in Tucson, Ariz.
Ka’Deem Carey rushed for 128 yards and two scores for Arizona.
