G-Prep girls, NC boys win

The Gonzaga Prep girls cross country team placed six runners in the top 10 and defeated Ferris and North Central in GSL action at Finch Arboretum Wednesday in Spokane.

Cyra Carlson finished first with a time of 20 minutes, 31 seconds, and teammate Ann Moloney edged Kristen Welke of North Central for second place, with a time of 21:07.

Ian Andres of Gonzaga Prep and Peter Helman of Ferris placed first and second, respectively, in the boys race, but North Central defeated both schools overall.

• The Mt. Spokane boys and girls defeated Shadle Park at Siemers Farm-Greenbluff.

John Dressel of Mt. Spokane finished first for the boys with a time of 16:30.90. Mt. Spokane’s Micaela Kostecka won the girls race in 19:51.50.

• The Central Valley boys and girls teams eased to victory over Mead at Mead High School.

CV’s Corey Hunter came in first for the boys with a time of 16:16, and was followed by six of his teammates in the top ten.

CV’s Briegan Bester finished first in the girls race with a time of 19:44, and was also joined by six of her teammates as top ten finishers.

• The University boys and Lewis and Clark girls raced to victory at Liberty Lake County Park.

The Titan boys had four runners finish inside the top five.

Girls soccer

Colville scored three second-half goals and the Indians beat Deer Park 5-2 to conclude a Great Northern League match that started on Tuesday.

The game was postponed due to lightning.
