Obituary: Orth, Erma Jean “Ermie”

Age 81

ORTH, Erma Jean “Ermie” Passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014.

Ermie was born to Omer and Josephine Alexander on August 23, 1932.

Ermie was a lifetime Spokane resident and graduated from North Central High School in 1950.

On July 26, 1953, she married George “Judd” Orth Jr. Judd and Ermie were most definitely a match made in Heaven and that is now where they are reunited with one another.

Ermie and Judd raised their family in the St. Aloysius neighborhood where they resided until Judd passed away in 2000.

Ermie then moved to the Spokane Valley to be closer to her daughter, son-in-law and her family.

Ermie’s love of family, friends and God was the center piece of everything she did in life.

Ermie provided the most amazing HOME to her children, husband, and friends.

She was so very proud of all of her grandchildren and her loving legacy will live on through them.

Ermie was also an AVID Gonzaga University basketball fan, so much so that all of the family knew not to call Mom during a televised GU basketball game because she would likely not answer the phone.

We will always remember those “microwave” GU games where, during a close game, Mom would stand behind the microwave and sneak peaks at the game around it - too nervous to just sit in her chair and watch.

Ermie is survived by her son, Rick and daughter-in-law Kelli Orth (Kennewick, WA), daughter, Suzanne Orth Burnette (Nashville, TN), daughter Jeannie and son-in-law Doug Semler (Otis Orchards, WA); her cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Jayson, Jeno, Jenae, Ashley, Ryan and Jordon, and many nieces and nephews.

Ermie is preceded in death by the love of her life, George “Judd” Orth Jr., daughter Debbie, sisters Joanne Alexander Grein, Virginia Alexander Loskorn, and by her parents Omer and Josephine Alexander.

Mom and Grandma - We LOVE you so very much!

You will be missed, but your most amazing LOVE will live on in our hearts forever!

The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Good Samaritan for the loving care they showed for Mom/Grandma - thank you so very much.
