Hit and run suspect reportedly swallowed drugs

The suspect in a Wednesday hit and run accident near Division and Magnesium is still in critical condition at a local hospital. Investigators believe the man, identified as Tracy L. Marsh, swallowed drugs before he was taken into custody, according to court documents. An officer observed the accident and chased Marsh briefly before finding him by a nearby apartment complex with the help of citizens. Marsh, 36, stopped breathing as he was being arrested. Witnesses told police that they saw Marsh put something in his mouth before he was arrested, documents say. Medics who responded pulled a plastic bag containing what appeared to be methamphetamine from Marsh’s throat, documents say. Police obtained a search warrant for the gold Chevy Tahoe that Marsh was driving. Marsh has a history of drug related convictions in Washington as well as criminal histories in California, Oregon and Nevada, documents say.
