Obituary: Sale, Clyde “Chic”

Age 86

SALE, Clyde “Chic” (Age 86) Chic passed away on March 31, 2014.

He was born in The Dalles, Oregon on October 7, 1927 to Clyde and Mary Sale, and moved to the Spokane Valley in 1929.

He graduated from Central Valley High School in 1945 as a three sport athlete excelling in basketball and leading the Bears to district and state championships.

Chic attended Eastern Washington College and as a freshman was a member of their championship basketball team.

He spent two years in the US Army, and then graduated from Eastern Washington College with a degree in education.

Chic taught and coached in the Central Valley School District for over 30 years and was a sports official for 52 years.

He was a college football official for 22 years including officiating a Rose Bowl game.

He was a member of seventeen athletic Halls of Fame throughout the Northwest.

Chic is survived by his wife of 62 years Noreen, and four children, Alan (Kami), Lori, Jeff (Stacy), Dena (Pete Hanson) 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Chic’s Life will be at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home, 1315 N. Pines on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 2: 00 PM.
