Obituary: Ellzey (Jeremiah), Letha Marie

Age 89

ELLZEY (JEREMIAH), Letha Marie (Age 89) Letha passed away on March 31, 2014 at Holy Family Hospital in Spokane, WA.

She was born on February 8, 1925 in LaCrosse, WA to Roy and Mabel (Benner) Jeremiah.

Letha’s career began early when she was hired by the Boeing Company in Seattle while raising two young children.

After moving to Spokane, Letha met and married her second husband Don, and they added three more children to their growing family over the years.

During that time, Letha started working in the insurance industry, first by typing insurance policies at home while the children were young, and later she went to the workplace for companies such as United Pacific, Transamerica, Fireman’s Fund, and The Guardian.

Letha was a proud member of the “Midwick Moms’ Association.”

She did volunteer work after her retirement and the passing of her husband Don in 1990, at various places including Holy Family Hospital and the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Letha loved her family; She was a wonderful and supportive wife and mother to all five of her children; she was a devoted sister to each of her siblings.

Letha enjoyed gardening and traveling while she was able to do so.

In the early years with Don, Letha was a good sport about riding all the way across the country to Mississippi with him and their small children!

Letha loved playing Bingo and Pinochle; she enjoyed the fellowship of close friends at her T.O.P.S.

group; and she was an avid Gonzaga Basketball fan.

Most of all, Letha loved her relationship with our Lord.

The loss of Letha’s son, Jerry, at Christmas 2007, took a major toll on her.

Letha finally had to give up her house on Midwick, driving her car, and attending services at Garland Avenue Alliance Church, where she had been a member for many years, and had developed quite a few close relationships - some of which continued until her passing.

Mom was so very blessed to know such wonderful caring people during her lifetime, and our family is comforted by this.

We would like to say “God bless you for being part of Letha’s life.”

Letha is survived by her children Linda Morin, James Ellzey, Susan (Douglas) Meyer, and Leonard (Deby) Ellzey; grandchildren Matthew Morin, Michele Deymonaz, Marlo Schofield, Adam Meyer, Gabriel Ellzey, and Danielle Ellzey; great-grandchildren Justin Deymonaz, Moreรก Schofield, Tristan Schofield, and Arianna Meyer; siblings Lucille Catling, Roy Jeremiah, and Dan Jeremiah; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and their children.

She is preceded in death by her parents Roy and Mabel Jeremiah; her husband of 39 years Don Ellzey, son Jerry Morin; brothers Neil, Keith, and William Jeremiah, and numerous other relatives and friends.

A memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with a small reception to follow.

A private inurnment will take place at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Second Harvest Food Bank of the Inland NW, 1234 East Front Ave, Spokane, WA 99202.

“Well done, thy trusted and faithful servant.

May our Lord Jesus Christ bless and keep Letha until we meet again.

We will miss you, Mother.”
