Teen rescued from Dishman Hills

It took Spokane Valley fire crews nearly an hour to find a teenage girl injured while hiking in the Dishman Hills Natural Area Friday evening. The girl injured her knee and ankle and couldn’t walk out, said Deputy Chief Andy Hail. Firefighters received the call for help at 6:16 p.m. The first firefighters arrived at one of the trail heads in minutes but did not have an exact location for the girl, Hail said. Two of her friends attempted to hike out and lead rescuers to her. The girl was located at 7:15 p.m. and was carried out on a rescue litter, Hail said. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
