Obituary: Wilson, Alice (Butz)
She was born in 1925, on a farm near Colome, South Dakota, number eight of the nine children born to Alvin and Edna Butz.
She has been a resident of Spokane, WA., since 1942.
She married Carl Wilson in 1944 and devoted her life to being a wife and mother.
She was also a community volunteer, being active in Preschool, Parent Teacher Association, her daughter’s Girl Scout troops, the Christian organization FISH and the annual Spokane Bloomsday Race.
She was a 37 year member and past president of the City Homemakers Club and a 43 year member of the Topaz Friendship Club.
A woman of deep faith, she was also an active member of Fourth Memorial Church since 1974.
Alice is survived by her two daughters, Sharon (Ken) Roberts of Spokane, and Carol (Bill) Kauppila of Seattle; five grandchildren, Dr. Lisa Christiansen, Michael Roberts, Eric Kauppila, Beth Peterson, and Sarah Bergeaux; ten great-grandchildren, Annika, Madison, Noah, William, Benjamin, Sami, Kate, Jake, Jackson and Ellie.
She is also survived by four brothers, Paul, David, Alfred and Kenneth; and half siblings, Richard and Algene.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, two brothers and her beloved husband of 60 years, Carl Wilson.
A memorial service to honor Alice will be held Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Fourth Memorial Church at 2:00 in the afternoon.
