Obituary: Mewes-Byers, Julie E. (Sly)

MEWES-BYERS, Julie E. (Sly) Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother suddenly passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on 04142014.

Her entire life she showed the love of our Saviour to everyone she met.

She was born August 27, 1921 in Spokane and was raised on a dairy farm in Otis Orchards.

She attended Otis Orchards and West Valley Schools and went on to go to college for a career in the insurance industry, which she truly loved.

She was an amazing athlete and scholar.

The most important thing in her life was her relationship with Jesus.

From the time her children were little, she would pray for every pastor and person she knew and those she didn’t.

Her last few years as her physical body failed, she was a prayer warrior.

We always knew she covered everyone she met with prayers.

She was married to Howard Mewes for 43 years and took care of him until he went home to Heaven.

She was blessed to meet an old friend Les Byers, who she married and again, took care of him until he went home to Heaven.

She is survived by her three sons, Richard, whose wife Alice passed away in November 2013, Jeffrey and daughter-in-law, Wendy, Jay and wife Cathy.

She had one daughter Sandy and her husband, Rob Brewer, along with grandchildren, Tim Mewes, Kayla Paxson, Monica Mewes, Rachel and Tasha Mewes, Bryce and Ryan Brewer, and several great-grandchildren, including Zane, Savanna and Hudson Brewer.

There will be a visitation held Thursday April 17, 2014 from 5:00-8:00pm at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home 1315 N. Pines Rd.

Spokane Valley, WA 99206.

The Funeral Service will be Friday April 18th, 2014 at 11:30am at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home with her grandsons, Pastor Bryce and Pastor Ryan Brewer officiating.

Interment will follow at Mica Peak Cemetery.
