Charlie Kimball teams with Dominque Wilkins on diabetes awareness

IndyCar driver Charlie Kimball is teaming with NBA great Dominque Wilkins at this weekend’s race at the Milwaukee Mile. The basketball Hall of Famer isn’t making a career change, but promoting diabetes awareness. Both Kimball and Wilkins have diabetes. Kimball (pictured, right) is sponsored by Novo Nordisk, a health care company for which Wilkins also serves as a spokesman. Kimball will give Wilkins a ride in the pace car Saturday, and Wilkins also plans on spending time on pit row. Wilkins says he’s looking forward to supporting Kimball, though his 6-foot-8 frame might preclude him from squeezing into a race car. As for Kimball, he says he’ll just stick to racing. He says challenging Wilkins on the basketball court would be a losing proposition. – AP
