Obituary: Hassler, Richard Walter

Age 73

HASSLER, Richard Walter Richard Walter Hassler, known as “Dick” to his friends, went to his Heavenly rest in the early morning hours of November 25 of complications from heart disease.

He was born in Los Angeles, California on January 24, 1941, and grew up in El Monte, CA.

He spent a total of 13 years in the Navy, doing such jobs as recruiter, aviation maintenance, quality assurance, and was even qualified to be a flight deck firefighter.

After leaving the Navy, he moved with his family to Rathdrum, Idaho in 1981, working for Hewlett Packard, and called Idaho his home ever since.

He was an avid NASCAR fan, ham radio enthusiast, and history buff.

His memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 9 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rathdrum.

Idaho at 11:00 AM with an Honor Ceremony and celebration of life immediately following at the church hall.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Mary, and his four children: Chris (wife-Celeste, and two sons, Erik and Scott) of Los Alamitos, CA; Richard (wife-Michelle) of Nicholasville, KY; Cheryl Pannell (son-Zachary) of Rathdrum; and Stephanie Simpson (husband-Jay, and two daughters, Samantha and Taya) of Post Falls.

He is also survived by his loving brother Roger Hassler (wife-Angie) of El Dorado, CA.
