Girls basketball: Colton tops Colfax, runs streak to 46

The six-time State 1B champion Colton Wildcats put their 45-game winning streak on the line Tuesday night against 2B power Colfax.

Zoe Moser made sure the streak continued.

Moser scored 11 of her game-high 29 points in the fourth quarter and Colton (2-0) did enough to take down Colfax 47-37 in a nonleague game at Colfax.

The game was tight throughout. Colton led by just four at the half and held off the Bulldogs’ second-half charge.

Carmen Gfeller had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Colfax (1-1).

Northwest Christian 46, Coeur d’Alene 28: The Crusaders (3-0) pulled away after a low-scoring first quarter and dumped the host Vikings (3-2). Courtney Gray had 14 points and 11 rebounds, Rachel Bozlee scored 12 and Mackenzie Gray chipped in 11 points for Northwest Christian. Coeur d’Alene’s Emily Callahan tallied a team-high 11 points and Isabella Hollinbaugh pulled down eight rebounds.

Timberlake 65, Riverside 33: Allison Kirby led three players in double figures with 23 points and the Tigers (6-1) dominated early and cruised past the host Rams (0-3). Jacquelyn Mallet and Shelby Starr added a combined 25 points for Timberlake, which built a 34-8 halftime lead. Julianna Trepanier scored 12 points and Hayley Pace added 10 for Riverside.

Sandpoint 27, Kellogg 24: Madi Schoening scored nine points and the Bulldogs (4-1) clipped the Wildcats (2-1) in a defensive showdown in Kellogg. Karlee Williams added eight points for Sandpoint. For the Wildcats, Janet Lo had seven points and Marley Chambers chipped in six.

East Valley 73, Freeman 32: The Knights (3-0) grabbed control from the get-go and routed the visiting Scotties (0-3). Hannah Burland scored 17 points and Jordan Phelan chipped in 15 for East Valley, which led 41-14 at the half. Sydney Sather tallied a team-high 11 points for Freeman.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 57, Medical Lake 43: Tessa Jantz scored 15 points and Mallory Kessler added 14 points and eight rebounds as the Broncos (2-0) took charge in the first half and held on late to beat the Cardinals (0-2) in Ritzville. Cassidy Hagel tossed in a game-high 23 points for Medical Lake, but the Cardinals couldn’t recover after falling behind by 18 points at the half.

Priest River 56, Newport 32: The Spartans (3-0) used an 18-4 third-quarter run to take down the visiting Grizzlies (0-3). Katlyn Summers had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Elisa Williams added 10 points for Priest River, which came away with 16 steals. Hadley Stratton led Newport with 13 points.

Cheney 59, Deer Park 17: The Blackhawks (2-2) opened the game on a 15-2 run and eased past the host Stags (0-3). Hannah Lemelin scored 12 points, Kendyl Cone had 11 and Brette Draper added nine for Cheney. Damaris Guske tallied a team-high eight points for Deer Park.

West Valley 42, Lakeland 22: Erin Higbie scored 15 points and pulled down 12 rebounds as the Eagles (1-4) pulled away after halftime and dumped the Hawks (2-5) in Rathdrum. Karli Gabbert and Kim Koppenstein each added 11 points for West Valley, which outscored Lakeland 24-11 after halftime. Kaiden Kelsey had six points and 12 rebounds for the Hawks.

Republic 50, Omak 28: After a competitive first half, the Tigers (3-0) charged ahead in the final two quarters and routed the visiting Pioneers. Sierra McQuay had 16 points and 11 rebounds and Shania Graham added 12 points, eight rebounds and eight steals for Republic. The Tigers led by three at the half, then outscored Omak 27-8 in the second half. Republic’s Lilly Beckwith chipped in seven points, seven steals and five rebounds.

Springdale 70, Chewelah 50: Emily Sulgrove scored 26 points and Eilish Smith added 23 as the Chargers (4-0) took control in the second half and beat the host Cougars (0-4). Sulgrove scored 13 of her points in the third quarter. Springdale outscored Chewelah 33-19 in the second half.

Liberty 46, Valley Christian 44: Madelynne Flaig scored 22 points as the Lancers (1-1) held off the Panthers’ late charge and won at Valley Christian. Valley Christian chipped away at Liberty’s 12-point halftime lead, but couldn’t come all the way back. Kendra Pope led the Panthers (1-2) with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Lakeside (ID) 49, St. Maries 48: Jordyn Nomee scored 10 of her 17 points in the fourth quarter and the Knights (2-2) edged the Lumberjacks (0-3) in Plummer. St. Maries missed a potential game-winning jumper as time expired. Lillian Rhea also had 17 points for Lakeside. Kelsey Auer led St. Maries with 14 points.

Curlew 59, Columbia 28: Haleigh Gibson scored 16 points and Kayleana Fanning added 15 as the Cougars (3-0) dumped the Lions (0-2) in Hunters. Curlew grabbed the upper hand early by outscoring Columbia 22-4 in the first quarter. Asia Kieffer led the Lions with 10 points.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 37, Wilbur-Creston 33: Berlyn Hunt had 15 points and Katie Emerson added 11 as the Warriors (2-1) edged the Wildcats (2-1) in Wilbur. ACH outscored Wilbur-Creston 11-4 in the fourth to complete the comeback. Emily Starzman had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats.

Tekoa-Rosalia 44, Wellpinit 32: Hannah Beach had 14 points and eight rebounds and Kimberly Groom and Maddie Bogenreif added 11 apiece as the Timberwolves (3-0) topped the Redskins (2-1) in Rosalia. Kyra Antone scored a game-high 19 points for Wellpinit, who opened the fourth quarter on a 12-0 run to cut the T-R lead to five before watching the Timberwolves score the game’s final seven points.

Bonners Ferry 54, Libby 45: Jasmine Hill scored 13 points and Savannah Woods added eight points and eight rebounds as the Badgers (3-0) topped visiting Libby. Bonners Ferry went ahead 35-20 in the first half and held on late.

Oakesdale 68, College Place 14: The Nighthawks (1-0) kept their foot on the accelerator throughout and dumped visiting College Place. Jacey Johnson had 18 points and five steals and Tatiana Mendoza added 15 points and 16 rebounds, including 10 offensive boards. Also for Oakesdale, Logan Reed scored 10 points and Lindsey Lindgren dished out seven assists.
